Meet the farmers
Nick Mourant
In 2007 we had the opportunity to restart farming once again and continue a 200yr plus of family farming heritage on the Island of Jersey. The re-birth of local independent farms was only due to Bartlett's investment and confidence in building a "state of the art" washing and packing facility for Jersey Royal potatoes on the island.
We currently farm some 200Ha of Jersey Royal potatoes and 20 Ha of Early Roosters. Our farm is situated north of the island capital St Helier. The land is predominately south-facing and free draining.
The Early Jersey Royal crop is planted by hand by a team of 30 people from the middle of January through to March. Some 100,000 trays of seed are hand planted, the seed is earthed up then covered with a plastic mulch to protect from frost.
The first prized Royals can then be available some ten weeks after planting.
Our land is all rotated with crops of grass, barley and mustard and our potato production is carried out to the highest ethical and environmental standards.
We hope you continue to enjoy some of Jersey's finest produce! Back to Farmers
