Glasgow University S6 Professor's Challenge

On the 13th & 14th June 2011, we set school pupils from Drumchapel High, Springburn Academy &l St Margaret's in Castlemilk a real-life marketing challenge with the Glasgow Caledonian University's annual Professor's Challenge.

The pupils spent two days working on their ideas to market Albert Bartlett Rooster Potatoes to a younger audience before pitching in teams to a panel of experts. The pupils could use any form of advertising - a new pack design or both to try and win this challenge

After some very energetic and excellent pitches by the finalists, St Margaret Mary's team were the overall winners on the day and were thrilled to be awarded a trophy to take back to school and vouchers to enjoy a shopping spree at Buchanan Galleries.

We had great fun with the pupils, and valued hearing their ideas. The S6 Professor's Challenge is a great and worthwhile project that allow pupils to realise their potential.

Glasgow Caledonian University's award-winning Caledonian Club works with youngsters from nurseries and primary and secondary schools in its community and their families to raise life-long learning aspirations and equip club members with life skills.
